honeysuckle roses

north winds

tease the edge of summer --

women lug bags of yarn

twilight clouds

like old cotton shirts  --

slowly I slip off the role of parent

petals gather sunlight --
lucid moment in this heat

warm breezes hold a sweet sadness --
night train

I swim inside the shadow of clouds
autumn takes hold and
on the back of hummingbirds
summer departs --
I touch bottom

skies open
summer rains
sea change

under evening shadow
blossoms shimmer --
garden vespers

sunlight curves
follows the river --
drought carving a brittle edge

a whisper of north wind
lifts the curtain --
your finger tracing my spine

the air weighs heavy --
our words sink to skin and bones

holding up the night sky
raspy love song

lone cicada

last rays of light
tiger lilies strain on thin necks --
fairy wands

open window honeysuckle and sea spray first embrace

your cotton shirt
pressed against my cheek --
above us pine needles tap stars
